SigEx Telecom : Europe and US will soon communicate
by Ana Maria Ciobanu
Sometimes I am just overwhelmed of all the things that are happening. Everything is happening so fast, innovations are appearing like mushrooms after a good rain, technology is just amazing. I feel wordless every day when I find out new things from all around the world. We're evolving with the speed of light but who knows in what direction. Nature has gone crazy and we keep inventing and inventing. I am going to talk about Galileo and GPS sharing signals but I made this introduction because I wonder where everything is going, what is the purpose of all this rush, and all these wonderful things being created. Since 2004 a joint compatibility and interoperability working group has been working to design a signal system that can allow Europe's Galileo to meet the GPS satellites run by the USA In the close future signals from their satellite navigation systems will be picked up on the same receiver. Globalization isn't just a myth than and users worldwide are supposed to be benefiting soon from the friendship and closeness between the signals of EU and US. Galileo is due to become fully operational in 2012 but perhaps this agreement will "facilitate the rapid acceptance of Galileo in global markets side by side with GPS"(Matthias Ruete, EC general director) So...let's applaud the fact that Europe and USA will finally communicate.
