The group said that the first wave of consumer electronics devices have based on Wireless USB 1.0 Certification Program fact that will help WUSB products join or even compete with ultra wideband technologies and the wireless high-definition interface . These products that are certified will be compatible with upcoming certified WUSB gear, according to the USB-IF, the industry organization responsible for overseeing USB standards. According to the Implementers Forum the later devices will hit stores back-to-school and holiday shopping seasons. Vital as the electronics industry will be the deployment of end-user products like D-Link's Wireless USB hub and adapter, said Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF president. The products will deliver the benefits of strict certification process and allow consumers to keep the investments they`ve made in their PC`s and devices. Already, vendors such as Alereon, Intel, NEC, Realtek, and WiQuest have started producing certified wireless USB silicon. Wireless USB is basically Intel's version of ultrawideband (UWB) technology, which works to translate the signals of a standard USB connection and deliver them over a wireless radio. However, as an application-specific form of ultrawideband, WUSB is largely led by Intel and its partners, all of which are hoping to use it as a replacement for wired USB connections in the future.
